Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why is my silver jewelry turning black?

This is a natural process called tarnish. When silver is exposed to sulfur or moisture in the air, it creates a chemical reaction that results in a dark layer. It is not a sign of poor quality; in fact, it proves the metal is genuine sterling silver. Regular polishing will easily remove this.

2. Can I wear my jewelry in the shower?

  • Sterling Silver: Occasional water exposure is fine, but chemicals in soaps and shampoos can accelerate tarnishing.

  • Fashion/Plated Jewelry: No. You should avoid water entirely to prevent the plating from wearing off or the base metal from rusting.

3. Why did my ring leave a green mark on my finger?

This usually happens with fashion jewelry containing copper or bronze. When the metal reacts with the acidity of your skin or perspiration, it creates copper carbonate.

  • The Fix: Keep your skin dry, and ensure you aren’t wearing lotions under your rings. This is a harmless skin reaction and is not a metal allergy.

4. How do I clean jewelry with gemstones?

Gemstones require extra care because they can be porous or held in by delicate prongs.

  • Do: Use a soft toothbrush and very diluted mild soap.

  • Don't: Soak them for long periods or use hot water, as heat can cause some stones to crack or loosen the jewelry glue.

5. What is the difference between "Tarnish-Resistant" and "Tarnish-Proof"?

No silver is 100% "tarnish-proof" because it is a natural property of the metal. However, tarnish-resistant jewelry often has a thin layer of Rhodium (a member of the platinum family) plated over it to provide a high-shine barrier that stays bright much longer than untreated silver.

6. My necklace is tangled! How do I fix it without breaking it?

Never pull on a knot. Lay the chain on a flat surface, apply a drop of baby oil or olive oil to the knot, and use two sewing needles to gently tease the links apart. Wash with mild soap afterward to remove the oil.

7. Is your jewelry nickel-free?

[Note: You should customize this based on your specific inventory] Most of our sterling silver is nickel-free and hypoallergenic. However, some fashion pieces may contain trace amounts of nickel. If you have high skin sensitivity, we recommend sticking to our Sterling Silver collection.
