How to Judge a Face Rakhi

Portrait work in metal at this scale is unforgiving. Look at the brow line and the space around the eyes — that is where a poorly finished piece loses the likeness, because those recesses are shallow and the first thing a careless polish fills in. On this rakhi the oxidised finish is worked so the dark sits down in those hollows while the cheekbone, nose and turban edge stay bright, which is what holds the face together when it is viewed from a normal distance rather than under a camera. Keep away from water, perfume, deodorant and oil — spray fragrance first, wear the rakhi after. Wipe gently with a soft dry cotton cloth after wearing. Do not clean with silver polish liquid, toothpaste, or a metal brush — this strips the oxidised layer and flattens the facial detailing. Store in a dry zip pouch or airtight box, away from humidity. Remove before bathing, swimming, or sleeping to protect the thread. If it dulls over time, a light dry buff with cotton restores the shine.
