Kamal Lotus Rakhi — Oxidised Skin-Friendly Lotus Design

A kamal (lotus) oxidised rakhi handmade in Satara, Maharashtra by Jija Designer Jewellery, in a deep antique finish. Made from skin-friendly metal that is nickel-free and lead-free, so it sits comfortably on the wrist through the whole day, even on sensitive skin.

The lotus is the most meaningful of Indian flowers — the seat of the gods, a symbol of purity that rises clean out of muddy water. That gives a kamal rakhi a quiet significance a plain flower does not carry. Tied on Raksha Bandhan, it suits a brother who would appreciate the meaning behind the motif, not just the shape.

Why a Lotus Suits Oxidised Metal

A lotus is built in layers — petals rising in tiers around a raised centre, one row behind the next. Depth is the whole character of the flower, and a bright plating erases it, throwing even light across every petal until the tiers collapse into a flat rosette. Oxidising restores the layering: the dark gathers between the rows of petals while their tips stay bright, so the flower opens outward in stages the way a real lotus does. It is the finish that gives the kamal its dimension rather than leaving it a flat outline.

Your Questions, Answered

The lotus (kamal) is a symbol of purity and divinity in Indian tradition — it rises clean out of muddy water and is the seat of many gods. A kamal rakhi carries that meaning, making it a thoughtful choice beyond just a pretty flower.
No. This is not 925 sterling silver. It is a skin-friendly alloy with an oxidised antique polish, designed to look like traditional silver-toned jewellery at an affordable price.
Yes. The metal is nickel-free and lead-free, so it is suitable for most people with sensitive skin. If you have a known severe metal allergy, please test-wear briefly first.
No. Skin-friendly metal with oxidised polish does not leave green marks the way low-grade rakhi metal does. Keeping it dry keeps it that way.
The finish is durable for the festival season and beyond with normal care. Contact with water, sweat and chemical polish is what causes fading — avoid these and it holds its colour.
Yes. The tie thread is adjustable and fits children, teens and adults.
Yes. Many customers order multiple rakhis for brothers and cousins, or pair it with a lumba rakhi for bhabhi. Add more from our Rakhi collection.
Yes. Jija Jewels ships pan-India from Satara, Maharashtra. Order early in the Raksha Bandhan week to be safe.
Yes. Because it is metal and not paper or plastic, it stores well and many families keep it as a keepsake or reuse it.

Care guide

Keep away from water, perfume, deodorant and oil — spray fragrance first, wear the rakhi after. Wipe gently with a soft dry cotton cloth, working outward with the petal rows. Do not clean with silver polish liquid, toothpaste, or a metal brush — this lifts the dark from between the petal tiers and flattens the lotus. Store in a dry zip pouch or airtight box, away from humidity. Remove before bathing, swimming, or sleeping to protect the thread. If it dulls over time, a light dry buff with cotton restores the shine.
