Om Rakhi — Oxidised Skin-Friendly Omkar Symbol Design

An Om rakhi handcrafted in Satara, Maharashtra by Jija Designer Jewellery, finished in a deep antique oxidised polish. Made from skin-friendly metal that is nickel-free and lead-free, so it sits comfortably on the wrist through the whole day, even on sensitive skin.

The Om is the most universal of sacred symbols — it belongs to no single deity, which is exactly why it suits so many brothers. Tied on Raksha Bandhan, it carries a spiritual meaning without committing to a particular god or tradition, and its clean shape sits as well on a young cousin as on an elder.

Why the Om Reads Best in Oxidised Metal

The Om is defined entirely by its curve — one continuous line with the crescent and dot above it. That line has to be clean and unbroken for the symbol to read as itself, and a bright plating works against it, throwing highlights across the stroke that break up its flow. The oxidised finish does the opposite: the dark sits either side of the raised line and lets it run smooth and legible, the way the symbol is meant to look carved into temple stone. It is a small design that depends completely on the clarity of a single shape, and the finish is what gives it that.

Your Questions, Answered

Yes. The Om is a universal sacred symbol that belongs to no single deity, so it suits any brother regardless of which gods the family keeps. Many customers choose it for exactly that reason when buying for several people.
No. This is not 925 sterling silver. It is a skin-friendly alloy with an oxidised antique polish, designed to look like traditional silver-toned jewellery at an affordable price.
Yes. The metal is nickel-free and lead-free, so it is suitable for most people with sensitive skin. If you have a known severe metal allergy, please test-wear briefly first.
No. Skin-friendly metal with oxidised polish does not leave green marks the way low-grade rakhi metal does. Keeping it dry keeps it that way.
The finish is durable for the festival season and beyond with normal care. Contact with water, sweat and chemical polish is what causes fading — avoid these and it holds its colour.
Yes. The tie thread is adjustable and fits children, teens and adults.
Yes. Many customers order multiple rakhis for brothers and cousins, or pair it with a lumba rakhi for bhabhi. Add more from our Rakhi collection.
Yes. Jija Jewels ships pan-India from Satara, Maharashtra. Order early in the Raksha Bandhan week to be safe.
Yes. Because it is metal and not paper or plastic, it stores well and many families keep it as a keepsake or reuse it.

Care guide

Keep away from water, perfume, deodorant and oil — spray fragrance first, wear the rakhi after. Wipe gently with a soft dry cotton cloth after wearing. Do not clean with silver polish liquid, toothpaste, or a metal brush — this strips the oxidised layer from around the Om line and reduces its contrast. Store in a dry zip pouch or airtight box, away from humidity. Remove before bathing, swimming, or sleeping to protect the thread. If it dulls over time, a light dry buff with cotton restores the shine.
