Rajmudra Rakhi – Oxidised Skin-Friendly Royal Seal Design

A Rajmudra rakhi handcrafted in Satara, Maharashtra by Jija Designer Jewellery, finished in a deep antique oxidised polish. Made from skin-friendly metal that is nickel-free and lead-free, so it sits comfortably on the wrist through the whole day, even on sensitive skin.

The Rajmudra is a text, not a picture. Where a portrait rakhi shows you a face, this one carries the words Shivaji Maharaj stamped on his own documents — which is why it appeals to brothers who would rather wear the idea than the image. Tied on Raksha Bandhan, it reads as understated to anyone who does not know it, and unmistakable to anyone who does.

Lettering Depends Entirely on the Finish

With a figure, a poor finish costs you some detail. With Devanagari script it costs you the meaning — if the strokes fill in, the words stop being words. That makes the oxidising the most important step in a seal design rather than a decorative one. The dark has to be worked into every engraved line and then cut back off the raised surface, so the script sits clear against its background at arm's length. Bright plating cannot do this at all: it lights the recesses and the surface equally, and the seal collapses into texture.

Your Questions, Answered

The Rajmudra is the royal seal of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, inscribed in Devanagari and used on official documents of the Maratha empire. It is one of the most recognised symbols of Swarajya.
This one carries the royal seal alone, with no portrait. We also offer a face design and a combined portrait-and-seal design — all in the same skin-friendly oxidised metal at the same price.
No. This is not 925 sterling silver. It is a skin-friendly alloy with an oxidised antique polish, designed to look like traditional silver-toned jewellery at an affordable price.
Yes. The metal is nickel-free and lead-free, so it is suitable for most people with sensitive skin. If you have a known severe metal allergy, please test-wear briefly first.
No. Skin-friendly metal with oxidised polish does not leave green marks the way low-grade rakhi metal does. Keeping it dry keeps it that way.
The finish is durable for the festival season and beyond with normal care. Contact with water, sweat and chemical polish is what causes fading — avoid these and it holds its colour.
Yes. The tie thread is adjustable and fits children, teens and adults.
Yes. Many customers order multiple rakhis for brothers and cousins, or pair it with a lumba rakhi for bhabhi. Add more from our Rakhi collection.
Yes. Jija Jewels ships pan-India from Satara, Maharashtra. Order early in the Raksha Bandhan week to be safe.

Care guide

Keep away from water, perfume, deodorant and oil — spray fragrance first, wear the rakhi after. Wipe gently with a soft dry cotton cloth after wearing. Do not clean with silver polish liquid, toothpaste, or a metal brush — this strips the oxidised layer out of the engraved lettering and the seal becomes hard to read. Store in a dry zip pouch or airtight box, away from humidity. Remove before bathing, swimming, or sleeping to protect the thread. If it dulls over time, a light dry buff with cotton restores the shine.
