Semi-Precious Stone Rakhi – Oxidised Skin-Friendly Antique Finish

A semi-precious stone rakhi handmade in Satara, Maharashtra by Jija Designer Jewellery. The stone is hand-set into a deep antique oxidised base, and the whole piece is made from skin-friendly metal that is nickel-free and lead-free, so it stays comfortable on the wrist through the whole day, even on sensitive skin.

Most rakhis in this price range use plastic or glass. A semi-precious stone in a hand-worked oxidised setting is a different proposition — it gives the piece real presence in photographs and makes it something a brother might keep rather than remove that evening.

Why a Semi-Precious Stone Sits Better in Oxidised Metal

Set a natural stone into bright plating and the two compete — both surfaces throw light, and the stone stops reading as the focal point. A darkened oxidised base does the opposite: it absorbs the light around the setting so the stone's own colour and depth stand out cleanly against it. This is why temple jewellery has always seated stones in antiqued metal rather than polished. It also means the stone is doing the work it should be, rather than being one more shiny element among several.

Your Questions, Answered

The setting is worked by hand rather than surface-glued, so it holds through normal wear. Avoid knocking it against hard surfaces and keep it away from water, which is what loosens settings over time.
No. This is not 925 sterling silver. It is a skin-friendly alloy with an oxidised antique polish, designed to look like traditional silver-toned jewellery at an affordable price.
Yes. The metal is nickel-free and lead-free, so it is suitable for most people with sensitive skin. If you have a known severe metal allergy, please test-wear briefly first.
No. Skin-friendly metal with oxidised polish does not leave green marks the way low-grade rakhi metal does. Keeping it dry keeps it that way.
The finish is durable for the festival season and beyond with normal care. Contact with water, sweat and chemical polish is what causes fading — avoid these and it holds its colour.
Yes. The tie thread is adjustable and fits children, teens and adults.
Yes. Many customers order multiple rakhis for brothers and cousins, or pair it with a lumba rakhi for bhabhi. Add more from our Rakhi collection.
Yes. Jija Jewels ships pan-India from Satara, Maharashtra. Order early in the Raksha Bandhan week to be safe.
Yes. Because it is metal and not paper or plastic, it stores well and many families keep it as a keepsake or reuse it.

Care guide

Keep away from water, perfume, deodorant and oil — moisture is what loosens stone settings over time. Wipe gently with a soft dry cotton cloth, working around the stone rather than over it. Do not clean with silver polish liquid, toothpaste, or a metal brush — this strips the oxidised layer and can dull the stone. Store in a dry zip pouch or airtight box so the stone is not knocked against other jewellery. Remove before bathing, swimming, or sleeping to protect the thread and setting. If the metal dulls over time, a light dry buff with cotton restores the shine.
